Another Valentine’s Day that you let slip by without buying her (or him) 50 dozen red roses, that silver Mercedes, or diamond tiara.

You can make it all up to them by making these Valentine’s Day Buttercream Cupcakes. They are sooooo DIY, simple, and easy to make!

VALENTINE'S DAY BUTTERCREAM CUPCAKES

Sometimes you just have to admit that you forgot all about
Valentine's Day (no excuses!) and find a way for them to forgive
you.
That way is through their stomaches...and maybe a gym membership
after you've made them gain 40 lbs through your baking.

VALENTINE'S DAY BUTTERCREAM CUPCAKES

I donated these cute cupcakes to some teenage bake sale for -- I don't
know what they were raising money for...probably drugs, condoms, and
furry outfits.

VALENTINE'S DAY BUTTERCREAM CUPCAKES

The recipe is made with a homemade, two-toned buttercream frosting
and fondant and gum paste hearts.
If you can play video games all day in your attic while you're role
playing in your brother's 10-year-old Tron outfit, you can make
these cupcakes. You don't even need to take the outfit off. Freak.

VALENTINE'S DAY BUTTERCREAM CUPCAKES

Why not be creative? Nothing says "I love you," as much something
that you made with your own two hands -- except maybe a brand new iPhone
(which some Chinese kids made working 14 hours in a factory riddled
with asbestos sleeping 5 high on a bunk in a windowless 10 x 10 room)
or diamonds (where Africans get their hands and arms chopped off for
stealing the smallest find), but that's besides the point...
Happy Valentine's Day! =P

VALENTINE’S DAY BUTTERCREAM CUPCAKES

Ingredients

    CUPCAKES:
  • White Duncan Hines Cake Mix
  • 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 small box of JELL-O dry vanilla pudding mix
  • 1/2 cup of H20
  • 1/3 Vegetable oil
    FROSTING:
  • 4 1/2 cups of powdered sugar ( I prefer C & H. It’s the best)
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    FONDANT & GUMPASTE:
  • Fondarific fondant & just regular ole' gum paste
  • BIG piping bag
  • Wilton Tip #8B
  • Red food coloring
  • Gloves (food grade)
  • Heart-shaped cutouts (metal)
  • Rolling pin (small will work)

Instructions

    CUPCAKES:
  • Use a mixer to mix all the ingredients together. I love my Kitchen-Aid.
  • Pour the batter into your cupcake paper cups
  • Bake just _UNDER_the cook time. You want moist cupcakes, don't you, Darling?
  • Cool them a bit and stick them into the freezer.
    FROSTING:
  • Mix ingredients with your mixer.
  • Use a BIG BAG to put the two different colored frostings in
  • Take your long cake spatula and put the first color of frosting on the bottom all the way to the end
  • Clean off spatula and put the second color of frosting on top of the first color w/o blending the colors
  • Pipe
  • Put them in the freezer in an airtight container.
    FONDANT & GUM PASTE:
  • Mix 1/2 fondant and 1/2 gum paste
  • Add red food coloring to 1/3 of the fondant -- this is your darkest pink ( using a little red food coloring works best for pink)
  • Add red food coloring to 1/3 of the fondant -- this is your medium pink
  • Add red food coloring to 1/3 of the fondant -- this is your lightest pink
  • Knead in the color to the fondant (with gloves!)
  • Roll out the fondant and cut out the hearts
  • Let dry for 24 hours on the counter.
