Bakers know that baking soda helps food rise.

 

I put way too much baking soda in this batch of cookies, and when my husband took a bite, he promptly spit it out.

When you go overboard on baking soda, it leaves a very bitter taste in your mouth and you’ll be a couple of hundred dollars short, disoriented, and you could possibly wake up in a Chinese labor camp and wonder how you got there.
